Bloom Where You Are

June 25, 2019

The most common excuse people have for not taking action in their life, whether it’s going back to school, getting a new job or leaving an unhealthy relationship is that they’re “not ready.”  It seems many people think there’s some magical place called “readiness” where life becomes easy.  They forget that the very act of getting ready is strengthening the muscles needed for the next change, just like freshly hatched butterflies beating their wings to escape their cocoon, making them strong enough to fly.

When I work with clients, we talk about changes they want to make, focusing on the “baby steps” to get there.  Maybe you can’t afford to go back to school full-time, but can you take one class a semester or get an accreditation certification in your specialty.  You can’t financially afford to leave your current relationship, but can you cut back on expenses and start saving to leave in six months.

What’s interesting is that when we are in action toward our goals, life gets better almost immediately.  We don’t have to wait for the ultimate goal to begin to blossom because we feel good about giving ourselves what we need to water and nurture our dreams.  That feeling of empowerment we experience makes each next step easier.  We may need a few “transplants” or adjustments in our “nutrients” along the way, energizing our growth in the progress we’re making.

So, what’s your next step in blooming where you are?  If you’re unsure, this is something I can help with as I’ve not only supported many clients through this process, but have also “transplanted” myself several times.  I’m here to share my experience and training as you blossom into who you want to become.  We’ll celebrate the “wins” and face obstacles together.
